Check your upload speeds using the speedtest app. Once you see how craptacular they are, you will know why it takes and then long. Most, if non all, Internet service provider'due south have much faster downloads then uploads. On my Comcast, I accept 20mb downloads with 4mb up.
On the Evo, I got 4.4mb down and ane.2mp upwardly on 4G (test towers running one-half power)
On 3g, I normally get about 1mb down and 500-700k up. When the signal is bad, the upload suffers big time.07-18-2010 04:37 PM

Hello! This is a message from the FUTURE...future...future...futurity...*echoes into silence*...
I know that 700k is a dull upload speed. It is tedious past today'south standards aND certainly that was the example even five years agone...
But even at 700k upload speeds, that's 700k PER SECOND.
That means (not bookkeeping for other information traffic variables muGLOYflaven!) that your
typical 500kb JPEG image should take well-nigh .viii seconds to upload.Considering here we are in the nowadays twenty-four hours, v years after this thread was long forgotten, and it All the same takes forever and a day to upload images to myself to Gmail via my Milky way S5a. That'southward with lxxx downward/20 upward. Which means, in black and white terms, that my 1mb JPEG should take .05 seconds to upload. In fact, I sent it before I signed up to this forum and began writing this post...
I've chosen this thread to resurrect considering it appears at the caput of Google search results for the query, if yous were wondering.

Both of you misunderstand what the OP is asking.
As yous can run into past the top of my screen, I constantly monitor all of my network action with a status var utility. I tin can see files existence ULed and DLed in real fourth dimension.
When nosotros send a moving-picture show from Google Photos, there is a delay, sometimes from 10 -30 minutes regardless of your network speed. *Other* apps causing traffic such as checking for updates, DLing from Play Store piece of work fine.
The event is that sometimes when you select to share a moving picture via Gmail, the picture just sits on the phone and does not begin to be sent at all until it feels like it -sometimes for 10 minutes, upwardly to 30 minutes. When it fina;;y decides to send it, it gets sent at normal, quick speeds.
Why is there this annoying delay before the picture gets sent is what nosotros're asking.

This problem the OP and I taklking most has *nothing* to practise with connectivity or speed. There is a *filibuster* sometimes of ten to 30 minutes earlier the picture is fifty-fifty begun to be sent.
